I was cleaning up my shop ... cutting up bits too big for my wood stove... Evidently ran past the pusher on my angle gilhooley... hit the thumb pretty square...  never touched the nail...

The mess I'm (trying) to work in.

I was making a 3 string for a VERY small lady, so I tried to make a very low profile neck for her tiny hands. All was going well until I tested the rigidity and discovered I had made a pretty good…Continue

Isn't it funny how expensive the " valuable" lessons are?

lesson:

1-don't  do anything while angry ...

2- ... upset....

3- ...aggravated....

These 3 "Valuable" lessons have cost me a lot of friggin' maple today.

Somebody just shoot me!

But at least I found a great "facepalm" pic!

Go to CB Gitty's site (Ben Baker) to get some really great deals on tuners.

Minor ebay gotcha - but then I am new so haven't really hurt myself yet.

Bought these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&1item=220741572...

cos they looked nicely old stylee and good price. Thought I could use them on 2 CBGs.

Arrived today and I realised they dont actually have any pegs to turn the tuners - so thats another trip to ebay land and all that involves ...

As the old timers say .. look twice, buy once.

Horrible

Was his own stupid fault.  He was pulling the drill towards himself while running it through a stud.  Once it broke through, he was exerting enough force that it kept on going right into his eye.  Instant Darwin winner.

Josh, that sounds like a horror film with the eye being extracted with a hand drill. How terrible.

It's funny.  It's always the tools we perceive to be safe that jump up and bite us.  I knew a gut who took the utmost care around circular saws only to extract his eye from his head with a hand drill.  Gotta be on the look out with everything.

Thanks Mark - I'll be sure to try to keep my fingers away from that sander while I am sanding my fingerboards or anything else for that matter.... and hey, what's a little humor when we get hurt? I think it helps ease the pain.... you don't have to be "touched in the head" to make a joke about what happened.... laughter is good for whatever ails us!

Hey, that is a great idea, make an artificial digit. If you cut it, it won't hurt or matter.

i had it clamped on workbench and was sanding down a run of fret boards. happened so fast i'm not sure, but i think my finger was just too much in the way and got caught up in the moment and tried tom wrao itself around the drive wheel along with the belt.  wouldn't you know it was the very last pass on the sander i was going to make.  on the good side that, finger will be about 1" farther away when i use my table saw.   hahahahahahahahahahahaha.   i justr realized i'm touched in the head with  wanting to build these things and don't know how to play
