String For My First Diddley Bow

Hey guys, I just finished my first attempt ever at a diddley bow. It's electric with a hand wound pickup. Neck is made from an old hickory handle off of a set of post hole diggers. 1920s Cyrilla cigar box, tailpiece made from a bit of copper pipe, bridge and saddle are two vintage wheat pennies set into a disc of walnut. Tuner is an eyebolt, nut is another piece of cut off bolt. My question is, would broom wire be a good string for this instrument? I want it to have somewhat of a deep "growl." What would you all recommend? Thanks for your help!
