D bow fever

I've been in the mood for one string wonders lately, and it looks like a lot of others have too! Youv'e seen this in the photos already, but thought it would be of interest here. So pardon for the duplication. Giving these away to participants of a workshop I'm giving this weekend. If anyone is in VA. Beach, check out Blues at the Beach at 17th street stage. Free and open to the public. Sept.10-12, 2010 MY workshop is Sunday from 1:15 to 1:45. Love to see some of you there.

  • Wow, the idea of those shims never occured to me. Wonder how much variation of tuning you can get with those. Do you just play it acoustically?
  • Here is my basic working diddley bow I use for blues history workshops/performances. Just a 4' long piece of 5/4 deck board, some drywall screws, 22 ga steel wire and a couple of wood shims under a bottle bridge. The shims make it somewhat tunable, so I can play with others as well. It aint purty, but sounds good.

  • Hey Bluesheart. Very cool. There is a chance I could make it down. Was wondering what you'll be covering in your workshop.
