Hey guys, I'm currently working on my third diddley bow build, and I need a little bit of advice. I've built one diddley bow from a cigar box and one using a gourd, but the one I am currently working on will use a cookie tin that my daughter gave me. I've never made a musical instrument using a cookie tin, and I wondered if it is necessary to put holes in the tin to let the sound out, or will it resonate well enough without putting holes in it? My plan is to make it resemble an old-time banjo of sorts, and it will have a piezo pickup mounted inside the tin underneath the lid. Will that be sufficient without putting holes? I'd rather not pierce the tin if I can get away with it. Thanks for any advice you could offer!
