Hi, I want to use the bottom of the box for the soundboard on two CBGs I am working on. When using the top of the box it is fairly easy to notch the box but unsure of best method to use if wanting to use the bottom instead. Any ideas and methods that are recommended? Thanks in advance, Mike

  • I have an Xacto knife with a 1 inch mini saw blade I got years ago. I like it cause I can saw - faster than cutting with a sharp blade - and its relatively error proof.  I make pilot holes with a drill and then slowly patiently cut inside the lines and then file to size.

The closest thing I could find to it on the Xacto site was the #15 Keyhole blade X215 - 5 pack for about $9

  • Thanks guys. I will try to figure which to try when I get home tonight. I tried the box cutter way and it is slow going....
    • Speed isn't everything. Sometimes it's better to go slow and enjoy the process.

  • You can also use a small router bit in a Dremel tool to cut the hole. Just go slow and use caution. A box cutter knife will work if you have patience and are careful.

  • I've had pretty good luck using a multi-tool blade.
