I'm about to embark on my first bass (4-string) and I've been advised it'll need a truss rod.
Having never used one before.....any tips on how to go about it? Also, any tips on how to subsequently use it (adjust?) would be greatly appreciated.

I make my own non-adjustable out of steel rod or bar stock for cheap, but you can't adjust them and they add a good bit of weight to a already neck heavy instrument. So for a Bass, the store bought adjustable type would be good.
