tinted tung oil over tung oil?

I've applied a few coats of tung oil over some sand sealed wood.

The wood is very light...I'd like the finish darker.

What about adding subsequent coats of tung oil that have die mixed in with it?

I have done exactly that, and it works well! That's how I got a vintage look on a new neck for an old Telecaster.

google stain tung oil, you'll get plenty of opinions!
many seem to think it best to dye/stain first, then apply tung oil. I use just tung oil and let the natural wood shine through. it darkens just a little on a light wood like maple, and really deepens something like walnut, bringing out the grain on both. good luck
