    google stain tung oil, you'll get plenty of opinions!
    many seem to think it best to dye/stain first, then apply tung oil. I use just tung oil and let the natural wood shine through. it darkens just a little on a light wood like maple, and really deepens something like walnut, bringing out the grain on both. good luck
