Working on one myself, from what I see a couple of ways to go about it. Lay the neck across the top of the tin, and the tin is mostly there just to look good, and hold the electronics. Or you can brace the inside with 1 X 2 and use it the same way as a regular box. Oil can guitars

Actually oversimplified works well. This was my first build. Sounds pretty good too.
