Hi guys , I'm building my first 3 string CBG , I've been reading round and have a pretty good idea what I want to build and how to go about it , I pretty much have the neck made and the bacing in the box to fit it I plan on fitting it with piezo rod in the bridge for the pickup ( either buy one ready made or have a go at making one myself ) , I've ordered a bone nut blank and I need to get some machine heads ( I have some off a old guitar but they are a bit sloppy so I think I'll get some new ones ) the last thing on my shopping list is strings which brings me to my question , what gauge strings should I be looking for for what tuning ?

I string most of my 3-string CBGs with medium or sometimes light gauge acoustic strings. Usually strung standard G-B-E, which can also be tuned to G-B-D for an open-G tuning. This is a good set to start with. Congrats & good luck with your build!
I made 3 cbg's so far and used the A/D/G strings of an ordinary set of phosphor bronze. Tuning it GDG the gauges are .042 (A), .032 (D), .024 (G)
The string length is from a Fender Strat äm....Squier Bullet to be honest :-) 25,5"
thanks for that , mine is 25.5 inch scale , and I have a .024 string ( spare for my diddley bow ) so I just need the .042 and .032 .
