I'm planning to build a resonator cbg and many questions come to my head, but my main question is: does it make sense to use a magnetic pickup? If I want that dobro sound, maybe a piezo will capture it better. Am I wrong?
Any answer will help me. Thank you.

I have only built one resonator so far and I put a mini humbucker in it because it seemed to be a popular choice of other builders. I love the sound of the guitar acoustically but to my ears it pretty much just sounds like an electric guitar when plugged in. Having never tried a piezo I can't comment on whether it would produce a more authentic dobro sound. I like Duck's idea of having both. I think you'll find wiring it up isn't as difficult as you may think and all the info you need is readily available here.
Thank you Don, that's what I thougt. I think I'll keep on the idea of the piezo for this one (because I have a prewired piezo) and give a chance to the switch in a future resonator, because I'm sure this will not be my last one.
When I finish this one I'll tell you if it still sounds dobro when is plugged in.
Put one of each with a switch and have the best of both worlds. There is no wrong way to build a CBG. It's a stick in a box.......Add a resonator, cool.......Add a piezo, cool.......Add a magnetic pickup, cool. Experiment and have fun.

Thank you for your answer but two different pikups and a switch looks too difficult for me. Maybe I'll put a piezo under the dog bowl to keep that metal sound, unless someone tell me that a magnetic pickup keeps it bluessy too, then I'll be full of questions again.
