I've been given a challenge, to build a 4 string cbg for a lady with carpo-tunnel and a former Taylor owner/player. She wants a open "G" tuning for use with a slide. She also has a weight handling problem, which is also a part of the carpo thing. I suggested a lap play style, but to no avail. I also expect a action height issue. any and all help you can send my will be appreciated.

  • With a strap, the weight thing won't be such an issue. Personally, I would go GDgb you could use the middle of a standard string set, check cbgitty's knowledge base, it covers string options...

The only other question is scale length. I make most of mine at 25", but you could go 24, especially if that fits the customer better.

As far as action or string height, 1/8 at the nut and 1/2" at the bridge is more than plenty, and it gives the player some room above the box. Just my $0.02
    • I normally use a 25.5" scale and I like your choice of strings. What do you think of using a piezo rod with pre-amp?
