All you experienced builders...
Starting my first build Monday and know I want to make it optionally electric. I think I understand the wiring diagram for that, that's not my question. My question is, I noticed several different sizes of Piezo Pickups available and was wondering if the variations in sizes have an effect on the tone and if so how?
Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you all for the replies. Cribbing two CBGs together now. Have other issues long before having to worry about piezos. I guess I got the cart before the horse. Good information for once I get to that point though. Thanks.

Regardless the size of the piezos used, it seems that running a pair wired in parallel takes a bit of the high pitched sounds away. It has something to do with the impedance. Someone had a post on here about the effects of size on sound an cut one in half and it worked as well as a full disc. Were currently on our Great American Train Adventure an away from home so i don't have time to search the site, but there are lots of posts and pages here on the Nation that cover the subject. Use the search feature at the upper right corner of the page and get a favored beverage and some snacks. Lots of reading material to peruse.
Just remember, at the end of the day, it's a stick in a box and have fun. It's always fun watching folks hear a CBG for the first time and seeing their reactions to the sounds that can be made from one.

Testify my brother, testify! No larger truth has ever been spoken, specifically your on point #2. I have seen many a jaw hit the floor,it never gets old. hee hee ( ;-)) BH
Definitely want a deeper bass type sound, so bigger is better?
Do larger piezos pick up more of the handling noise though?
Thanks to everyone that has responded, it is appreciated!

I have had great results using two 20mm piezos wired in parallel. It seems like there are lots of ways to "skin the cat", the problem is getting the cat to agree to the process. Experiment with different set ups and see how they work and what you like best. Don't build them all the same or you'll never know what you are missing. Most of all, have fun and keep building. I'm working on builds 25, 26 and 27 right now, the biggest problems have been finding places to hang them. I'm running out of wall space.
