Hi all,
This will be my first CBG, but not my first string instrument that I built. I am building a 3 string that I plan on adding electric pickups to and not sure if it will get frets yet.
Here is what I have got done so far.

This is the Pickup that I plan on installing in this here CBG.....
yup lotta folks here use them . ;-)
How are they less forgiving than an enclosed tuner?
imho they are cheaper quality and will strip easier , more-so if you don't have a perfectly level drill press , so, even in installation , they are less forgiving . and they are less forgiving in use also .
enclosed tuners contain the shaft and cog better allowing less chance to pull away from each other . which causes slippage and striping under tension.
your slanted angle on the headstock may increase that problem as the strings willl be pulling more from the side .
looks good .. but .. i myself would swap out those tuners . they are .....
ummm......... let's say ... " less forgiving , " than standard enclosed tuners . imho .
