Mounting Mag Pickups

I've got some Telecaster pickups I would love to put in a CBG.  But, I'm not clear at all about the ways to do it.  Here's where I get confused.

 

Both the neck and bridge pickups need to be mounted from inside the box where the neck is.  The neck wood inside the box is already thinner than it was because of what was removed to fit the box top.  Doesn't seem real smart to me to cut more of the wood away, weakening the neck more to accommodate the pickups.

 

Am I wrong in my thinking?  (probably)  How do you guys deal with pickup mounting?  Got any pictures?

    reinforcement.... Good question look forward to other ideas...
