Connecting a guitar jack?

I am building an amp using a Gitty amp kit. The kit did not come with a guitar jack so I went down to our local electronic store and bought a jack. The package has a few squiggles on the back which I think are directions for connecting the leads to the jack. The jack has three possible connection and I have two wires to connect to the jack. Where do I connect the positive and negative wires to the jack since I know Jack.

  • That’s a Mono Jack with a Switch ?

    • You are correct. I sure missed that one. I guess I need to look a little closer. Thanks for the correction.

    • Red Dot- Signal/Positive

    • The one you have marked with green is the Sleeve contact, it is the Ground. Next time don't buy a sterio jack. It will be a little less expensive and all you need. The Red one is the Tip, which is the hot wire connector. The one you are not using is the Ring connector. BTW these are all old telephone terms.

      Have fun.

  • I do not know either, but I am sure glad you ain't in Bomb Disposal.....!!!!  Lol
