  • Actually, there's no black wire coming out. Just red-white and shield.  I was expecting the usual 4 wires you find in humbuckers and this was confusing for a while.  I think since I'm only installing one in the neck position I can ignore the white, (tape it) and solder the red and shield. Maybe Glen or Ben should do a video about this cbguitty pickups. 

    • It could also be that each coloured wire is a hot lead for each coil in the humbucker with a common ground in the shield, i would test the white and red wires for continuity, no continuity would suggest they are in fact as i said above, if there is continuity, i'd treat the red as pos. and the white as neg. and test that, the problem is you can't be 100 % sure that the red is the end or start of the coil, but i'd punt on it being the end [hot] wire, whatever you come up with, i would n't leave an unused wire in there, it is either a pos for 1 1/2 of a humbucker or a ground for a combined pair of coils, and if so, combine that with the bare wire to ground
