  • Electric guitar strings. Medium gauge, cheap is good. I personally like a deeper open chord, so I would used the EAD strings, tune to EBE or FCF
  •   As long as they're  metallic( for your pickup to detect) you honestly can't go wrong. CB Gitty sells pre-chosen string sets for 3 string guitars. You can also choose a package from a music store and pick 3 strings out of that.

Before you choose though-what tuning are you planning on using? Most strings will allow you to to tune at least one up or one down from the stated note, so you have a lot of flexibility there.

Also, what is your fret length? If I were building say a 24-26" fret length I would use metallic Guitar strings (bronze wound for richer tone or flat wound for a brighter tone), Banjo strings or even Dulcimer strings (again, depending on your Tuning) but if I were using a 14-19" fret length  I would try to pick up a pack of Mandolin strings and pick the closest three to my Tuning...

My personal choice of string these days runs to Martin Light Banjo strings for any build of 19-26" fret length-I find them durable and flexible enough for several tuning choices, and the loop ends let me use standard pegs or tail pieces or even nails and screws. I am also partial to Ukulele strings and even fishing line for my Ukes but those would not work with your pickup.

Can't wait to see your build!
