I know for regular guitars you need to buy different strings depending on whether you are playing acoustic or electric. Is this true for cigar box guitars as well or do you just but strings for your 3 or 4 string cigar box guitar? Thanks.

that helps a lot thank you.
cheers . guess i should add that guitars with no pickup at all , most folks use acoustic strings , but electric strings work fine too.
Electric guitars (or cbgs) with a magnetic pickup basically need "electric" guitar strings . they have a steel core that the magnet can read . ( you "CAN" use acoustic bronze wound strings etc... on an electric guitar . but , it will be harder for the mag to read , thus a muddier , weaker sound . (but .. you may like that sound .
guitars with a piezo pickup don't really matter because the piezo reads the vibration of the box/body , but many prefer acoustic strings on a piezo cbg. some also use electric . even nylon .
as per what strings? . # 3 . 4 and 5 from a pack of .09 or .10s are a popular choice , but feel free to use any consecutive 3 or 4 you may like .
hope that helps . ;-)
