Just finished my first build..a 4 string fretted cbg.bit of a hassle i had was when i cut away some of the neck so i could close the lid it weakened the neck and caused it to bow when i stringed it.had to bolt a piece of wood onto it to strenghten it.i used oak for tbe neck.anyway done and sounds great..

I apparently learn more slowly than Bear would suggest, had that issue on my first two. Have fixed both, no worries. Learning new stuff every time. Welcome to the addiction!!
Nicely done, Niall. The great news is you've learned something not to do next time and I'm willing to bet you won't do it again. The other great news is you've got an awesome sounding new geetar. Share a video, have some fun on it, outgrow it and repeat the process all over again. Our hobby is great like that!
