Aquila Bionylon Strings

Has anyone tried the new Aquila Bionylon strings on their ukes? I’ve been using the Aquila Nylgut strings exclusively for a while now and have been happy. The Bionylon are supposed to have a warmer and more mellow sound than the Nylgut, but I’m wondering what they give up in volume.  Aquila touts a 50% reduction in carbon emissions in the production process. I have a feeling that the environmental concerns are the real drivers of the change and not an improvement in the sound.  Any users out there?

  • I may try them as I do not like the nylgut strings. I prefer florocarbon.
  • I was not even aware of them, but I have the nylgut on my tenor uke and I don't see how anything else could be much better.
