In the last few weeks I have made 2 travel ukuleles, about 30 kazoos,An upright bass, A gaint Bass kilimba, a stomp box,and two strum sticks. I have had questions about everyone I built. So far some one will supply an answer to which I am most thankful. I am building a UBass out of a corkscrew box.Seems like I'm on a bass kick. I have looked on our site here and on Youtube and I can not tell how to hold the bottom end of the strings. Next question can someone tell me is there a ball on the end of the strings or do you have to knot them. I have never played a ubass so I know nothing about them.
I have seen so small guitar coversions and it looks like the string just come through the top with no hint as to what is holding them. The box I am using has a removeable top so I could run the strings through the part that goes in the box but I had hoped to glue the top on so it would not rattle.
Thanks in advance
Bobby

Aquila Thundergut strings have a ferrule on the end that is crimped. That prevents the strings from slipping through the hole. You can see my video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-2oyDjZCPA
Thanks for the replies.
Yup, have to knot them.
