Fallout Nuka-Cola Bass Build!!

A buddy of mine that teaches guitar for a living found a crappy bass guitar on the curb one day. He had it hung in his studio for a few years. He told me it was actually used in a few music videos being abused and thrown off a roof.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I gave him one of my CBGs and in return he gave me the bass and told me to have fun with it. This is what happened...

The body was made from pallet wood and scrap from my local wood shop. The neck, tuners, bridge are all from the trash bass my buddy threw my way. The pick up inside the tin is an old humbucker and I did the wiring.

I made a short video of myself playing it A/B with my wife's 2001 USA Precision Bass to compare a bass built for almost free and a bass that cost about 1200$.

I have a few Nuka-Cola caps that I am making into knobs when the epoxy sets. I also have some bass amp guts from when a friend of mine was moving that I am planning on making into a companion amp.

Enjoy!!

  • What a kick ass build!!! Love the crazy wiring on the headstock and the little obvious broken-glued-back-in piece...just gives it so much character!
