This is a proto type cigar box bass full scale with removable / interchangeable body "wings "
Features a piezo with hi mid and low adjust with chouris reverb phase delay and tuner. The magnetic pu features a 5 position filter / boost. Its a tone monster!
Body wings are removable and interchangeable to other styles. I chose the Rickenbacker as it was harder than most

Another benefit of interchangeable side pieces is the extra weight to offset a heavy neck that often plagues Cigar Box Guitar/Bass builders.
Some people say that the added mass helps with sustain too. YMMV
The entire build was designed with sustain in mind. It's not built with conventional materails, and sustains very well with its own unique tone brought out by the piezo.
Yes indeed the wings stop neck dive!
Awesome Phil. You obviously spent a great deal of time planning and building and your finished product looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks Bob ! It took about a week on the body, and a solid day wiring it up. The neck and hardware are from a doner bass. So far I have 2 guitars and 2 bass,s made using my construction technique. 2 are traditional cigar box shape, and 2 with body surround. All feature piezos and mag pickups ran through a blend pot.
This is the 6 string body suround.
I guess living close to Branson you probably have better pickings for donor guitars. I managed to score a strat copy for $50 a few weeks ago but bass guitars are few and far between here in Houston area. Thanks for posting the six string build. It is awesome too.
This body and neck only was a facebook market place find for $20.. Body was ruff but the neck was good. Body is mahogany.
Branson is not so good at used gear oddly enough Most of my finds are coming from a 50 mile radius on FB marketplace.
This is the tail I call sound snorkels
Kool, I’ve actually seen a few guitars built that way, I just don’t remember where? Great outside the box build
Thanks Brian. Sounds just as good with out the wings. Its more comfortable siting down with the wings
