Sixties Amp Overhaul

Hi, gizmoids.

I'm completely new at this.

I'm looking for some help with an amp I picked up cheap. I like the look of it, it looks like a toy, and I want to gut it and make a "stealth" amp out of it. That is, an amp that doesn't look like much but puts out a lot of sound.

All I want to keep of the original is the tin control panel and possibly the speaker (though I might upgrade that as well). The way it's currently configured it has three separate 1/4' inputs, 1 volume and 1 tone. That sort of helps define what controls I can put on it- I don't want to reconfigure the tin panel, so I was thinking I'd use those three holes- but not necessarily as inputs. more like

1/4" input

1/8" Inupt

1/4" output

=or=

1/4" input

1/8" input

LED Power indicator.

Another thought I had was that instead of TONE control I could throw a circuit board from an effects pedal into the case and have the POT that was controlling tone be used to dial in an effect- but I don't know how I'd power that (prefer not to use a battery).

The amp itself has a transformer in it already, which I can use or replace depending on voltage.

Here's the amplifier I'd like to power it with:

Any suggestions/words of caution/encouragement would be appreciated. I'll post some pictures of it here later in the week.

  • lookin' for two INputs though. Is there a way to wire two physical inputs into one electronic input so they're equal, not switched?
