Foot Drum Amp

My Regular Guitar amp doesn't have two inputs so I'm gonna build an amp for my soon to be finished stompbox. I need a schematic for something that is simple. Just and input and volume. But... I need it to have some good bass, mainly because I have a bass pickup for the drum (it's basically the same thing as Ted Crocker's Terraplane Floorboard). Anyone have any SIMPLE & functional schematics?

  • I think you will hear when the speaker can't handle it.
  • They can be built with a piezo, a speaker (used in reverse), I don't know about a microphone but it probably works the same way as the speaker, and I think they can either be built with a magnetic guitar or bass pickup. The way the one I'm building works is that you have the pickup(s) under the license plate inside a sturdy box and when you step on the license plate it vibrates like a string since it's metal. also, how can I tell if it's distorting when it's just a quick thump?
  • I really don't know how these foot stompers are built. Do they have a magnetic (guitar or bass) pickup??? I always thought they used piezo or a microphone. About blowing the speaker... try it at low volume, then slowly louder and if it's not distorting you're ok.
  • Also, I have a bass pickup and a single coil. the original plan was to have the single coil in the CBG and the bass pickup in the foot drum. but, I'm thinking if I have the bass pickup in the foot drum the pickup will only transmit really low bass signals to my guitar amp and mess up the speaker. would it be better to have the single coil in the drum instead of on the guitar?
  • Yes all the jack sleeves. Best is also to make a connection with the foil, via the jack sockets.
  • all the jacks?
  • Line the whole inside of the box with tin foil and solder a wire to the ground tabs of the jack connectors and connect them all to be sure.
  • Speaking of metal boxes, I have a small wooden cao box that I think would work pretty well as a mixer. However though, it's wood and you said the jacks would be grounded to a metal casing. Can I just put some tin foil around the inside or something?
  • It won't shock you anymore than your guitar strings will do, because they're all grounded the same. The mixer will be just like an effects pedal.
  • Won't a metal box shock me? but anyway thanks for the schematic
