My plans are getting bigger. Wanna make a CBG with external preamp and use a pick-up and a rod piezo.
So it wil be: piezo rod/cable/2,5 mm jack/preamp in/preamp out/2,5 to 1/4 adapter/cable to amp.
Also: pick-up/cables to vol and tone pots/cable/1/4 jack.
Will this work? Do I have 2 cables to the amp or is there a better wiring possible?
Second I want to put the piezo rod under the saddle or in the bridge. Should it be tight fitted or lose and with how much tolerance? And do I fill it with silicone or glue?
So far I thanks for all the help I got so far from all the people here. Tomorrow I go buy me the wood for the neck. I'll keep you all updated with the progress of my first CBG.

well this is how i would do it.
note the TRS (stereo) jacks.
the advantage of doing it this way is that when you use a regular guitar cable the piezo is shunted to ground and you never hear it.
ie, lets say you put this circuit in two guitars, but only build one preamp tin, and your friend comes over to jam. He plugs one of your axes into a guitar amp, well he only has the mag pup, you need a stereo cable to use both pickups
Nice diagram.I wander is there a way to make a 3 way switch in the tin? I than can get 1 cord going into my amp and switch between piezo/mag/both? Or am I asking to much?
problem with a 3 way on the tin is bending over to set it.
consider stomp switches. ive seen dp3t ones on ebay at 3 for $10. one of the other throws can light up a led, you can probably piggy back power for those from the preamps battery
replacing the piezos output jack with a switching jack enables you to sum the outputs when you dont put a cable in that connector
What's the little item just above the dpst switching jack?? And how does a dpst looks like?
There's a smarter circuit. I'll draw it out for you tonight
Yes I want to make a little box where I'll fit in the little preamp. So I can later use it on different guitars.Going to use a preamp/equilizer used in western semi acoustic guitars. Is this a good idea?
I have a pic of what you want on here somewhere but I don't know how to make it show up here. "PreAmp In A Can" picture # SDC10910. Sold it, so I'm working on "PreAmp In A Box" between other projects. It really is better than trying to stuff a preamp in a CBG. You can check it out on my page, I think.
You can send it to me by e-mail: honsik_xxx@hotmail.com
Tnx.
