Assuming you get a useable audio out of the amp, the simplest tone pot would be a .022, 047 or .100 uf capacitor inline with a variable resistor (potentiometer, ie pot ) likely 100k or 250 k, taping the input line with the other line going to ground.
A little more than just adding a tone pot is required. Tone pots in a guitar are simple filter circuits and unlikely to give the range of control you would want for an amp.
Your best bet for success would be something like the following: FA625 Mono Tone Control Module
There are other options at various prices and functionality. I suggest you search "mono tone control for Kemo amp module".
After you decide what will best suit your needs shout back and somebody will get you squared away.

Yeah that's why the modules are great, you don't have to figure out all the capacitor, resistor and coil values.
You get everything in one neat package and all you have to do is wire the output of the tone module to the input of the amp module...after you decide which tone module to buy.
