This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Thanks folks. The rocking accrues when I'm cranking the blade up and down. It swings out of square by a bit over 1/16 of an inch in both directions. This table saw has been a pain to use from day one. I have to set the fence with a ruler. Then it's easily moved after clamping it in place. The thing that slides in a grove has always been loose. Really hard to get a perfect 90 angle.  I know what I'm buying this weekend. Looking forward to it. I'll have to find a way to tare this one down. Don't want to set it on the curb. Have someone think their getting a good thing.

Sounds like an upside down skill saw screwed to a piece of plywood would have been a better option then what you have. For shit and giggles flip the saw over and check the mounting screws that hold the pivot points for the tilt. In my case, it's small metal plates over the shaft held down by screws on either side. It could be bearing blocks of some kind on either end of the rod. What brand is it?

Will, It's a Craftsman bought around 20 years ago. I won a $150 raffle at work. These things were on sale for $150. So in reality it's a free saw. When I flip this thing over it's gonna be to take it apart. And after years of frustration it's going to be fun. The moving fence has caused a few kickbacks that I've been hit with.

Did you ever take it back to have them look at it? Craftsman come with a lifetime warranty and that is something they should've fixed. I know Sears Stores have closed and gone out of business, but Lowe's sells their stuff and does the warranty claims now. Worth a shot unless you have to pay shipping back to the manufacturer.

One thing to consider, since it’s been trouble since new, is the blade may have been over tightened. Doesn’t need too much torque. Check the “cupped” washer, make sure it’s “true”.

My dad works for Lowes and he often told me that the new Craftsman and the old Craftsman are not the same except for the name. The new one doesn't honor the old warranty. They give you the name of the website that deals with the claims.

The new Craftsman belongs to Stanley/Black & Decker.

If you want to see something fascinating, check this video out. It lists the companies who own the brands.

Interesting.

Wow! Interesting to say the least. Years ago the shop I worked in had a craftsman power shear, that the trigger broke. Being electrical it was no longer covered (part of the demise of Sears IMO) they wanted $30 for a replace ment. About a month later I laid a BD 1/2" drill on the shelf beside the shears and noticed the resemblance between the two. Both unit were disassembled, lo and behold the triggers were identical! Called the local Jobber(tool wholesales) $10 for the part. For shits & giggles, tried the Craftsman model #, "You have to go to Sears for that!" What the Fudge! Its the same part! Just 3x the price. "Sorry can't help you with that".

Stand to the side. The kickback piece of wood will fly across the shop. I knew that but a hefty piece kicked back and put a nice gash in my gut. And this was on a property working table saw. (No safety features). Especially with hard wood. Let it fly, jut not into you.

I caught a 2"x4" in the gut from a kickback once. I was wearing a leather apron at the time, no cuts, just a big shot to the gut. I was up close to it at the time, I don't know if that was a good factor or a bad one. Just know it felt like someone back kicked me in the gut.

You were damn lucky you weren't doubled over slamming face into the blade, then your nickname would have been "CROSS CUT"! Sorry can't help myself sometimes. LOL

Definitely wouldn't have issues with parting my hair. LOL
