I'm a rookie on the forum so cut me slack folks. But I just bought a cbg today after having wanted one for quite some time. I was looking for volume so I got one that had a resonator and was a tad disappointed for a couple reasons.
1.)- it is kind of quiet
2.)- the resonator rattles
Just wondering if you guys had some experience with this and had any advice on how to fix it.
God bless

it was most likely "tuned down" for shipping , thus causing your bridge to move under less string pressure , measure from the middle of the nut ,to the 12th fret (forward bar) . then measure from there to middle of bridge . the measurements should match if your bridge is in the right place .
or just measure the whole scale length from mid nut to mid bridge (if you know the scale length)
(edit ,, oh ... reading back i see you already got it . ;-) lol. congrats
Hi, Damon . Please add some photos of of your CBG resonator. You can click "Reply to This" under your post and post images. A side view would be good to see what can be done. A picture may save you from a thousand words that may or may not be relevant to your issue. But..... I know just purchasing your CBG this must be frustrating.......So... Let me give you some ideas. 1.) "It is kind of quiet" Well I don't own a CBG resonator, but a lot of regular CBGs are roughly around 25% as loud as an acoustic guitar. (in "my" opinion , based on "my" experience) So if your resonator is is 50% as loud as your acoustic , that might be just the way it is. ( CBG res. owners opinions may vary.) With a resonator, particularly , downward pressure on the bridge from the strings is very important. The steeper the angle of the strings, from the tailpiece to the bridge ...... the more downward pressure on the bridge. More downward pressure on the bridge might also stop your resonator rattle. Are the strings new and for an acoustic ? 2.) Locate rattle by strumming and pressing down with fingers of the other hand at suspect areas, to see if you can make the rattle go away. Fix accordingly.(that's vague) I hope this is helpful and you can begin enjoying your CBG !
I actually figure it out pretty quick. I just scooted the nut back a little, and that added the pressure it needed to stop rattling. And the rattle was cutting into the volume big time. But thanks for the help! I've actually been messing around and have already learned "dust my broom". Appreciate your post though. I'll keep it in mind for any potential builds

Fixed and learning a song I will never be able to play ! Hope you're enjoying it as much as I would. Awesome ! A grimacing smiley face for you. ha!ha!
Do you mean quiet acoustically/not amplified?
Resonator rattles with string vibration, or loose in the git?
