Tuning peg placement

Hi, I'm about ready to install my tuning pegs but unsure on the placement. It is going to be 3 strings with 2 on one side and 1 on the other. Not sure the spacing and if the 2 on the one side need to have one in more from the edge than the other rather than a straight line. Also does it matter at all which side would have the 2? I am assuming not but I have no clue as always. :) Attached is a picture I took of the headstock prior to adding the fretboard. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as always. Thanks, Mike

    Like wayfinder said.  I drill my peg holes 3/8" from the edge, no more than 5/16"...

    Thanks guys. The tuners I purchased were the Shane speal ones from cbgitty. If looking from the back of the head should the brass gear then be closer to the body? That is what it sounds like, I just want to confirm before I do anything. I have not even looked to see if I have 2 lefts 1 right or reversed so need check before I drill as well.
