Anyone know of a "right size" Cigar box that has some sort of train theme? I have a request for a cbg that has trains on it. This is for an older friend of mine that has a room set up with model trains. He'd like a cbg with a train theme to hang on the wall. Thanks!

I thought about the lunchbox route but I'm thinking his taste would be more geared towards a classy looking cigar box. Or even if I could find some sort of oil can that's railroad related. The bad thing is, railroad stuff is so collectable, I expect the prices tags to be fat
Maybe not exactly what you want, but a year or so ago we had a 'steam punk guitar' build competition, and i thought of doing a send up of the theme using a Thomas The Tank Engine lunchbox, but couldn't find one in time
Thumper, that's an awesome idea. Originally, I was trying to come up with an idea to use HO rails as frets. I don't think he needs this to be playable but I won't be happy if it's not and the rails as frets seemed like it could cause more grief than its worth. Tracks as sound holes, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for the great idea!
Bob, I'm working on a train theme build also, here's an idea I'll share with you. For sound hole covers I'm using lengths of HO train track. Gonna be sweet!!!
I was thinking about printing a label or buying a label. I like the box that's on ebay, but I have a feeling this guy might want something in nicer condition......myself, I think that box is full of character and would make a killer cbg.
You could print it and attach it to a box, then seal with poly.
Google "Vintage Lionel Trains" then click on the "Images" tab to pull up a lot of old box images. You should be able to find something appropriate there.
