    You should consider making the neck yourself! It's not as hard as it sounds. I just made my first mandolin neck and I'm very satisfied with it. 

    I'm not in any way an accomplished woodworker, I don't own any power tools (except a drill), and I don't have a workshop (I'm building those instruments on the living room floor with an old chair as my workbench...). All you need is some hardwood, glue, clamps, a good handsaw, some rasps and files, tons of sandpaper, and finishing oil.

    The best tips for making necks you'll find on Richey Kay's blog on this site. He's building guitars, not mandolins. But the only difference is the scale length and that you need a bigger headstock for a mandolin...306644774?profile=RESIZE_320x320
