Some of my past and present fretting ideas.

Hi All, at last I have found time to post this info.

Captions should be on most photos.

I obtained this fret plotting info on a sheet of paper back in the 1970's and transferred it to this sheet of aluminium. As you can see it has a series of vertical lines that represent fret positions. 

I then get my straightedge mark the scale length lay it on the sheet and plot the fret positions for any scale I wish. I then put saw cuts at those positions in the edge of the rule so my marking knife will fit in it.

Hi, for some reason I could not add text after posting the photos above.

I now have a fretting machine/saw and templates for doing my fingerboards, but any oddball scales I do this way. I must have used this method for many, many years.

I can also radius the board first as the "saw stop" is also radiused underneath.

The "Saw Stop fence also keeps the saw upright and square to the edge of the fingerboard
