Six String DBG

I've got this great old Smith & Wesson wooden display box I want to make into a six string and I've found an old Harmony neck and tuners on evilbay. The neck is a skinny classic ( 1.75in), and I'm wondering if stringing it with light steel strings would be OK or too much tension. Yes, I will add to it so that the neck is the full length of the box.

  • Display Box Guitar! DBG works just fine.

    • Good call BR !! On my other one I put a small silver medallion of "Garfield The Cat", that I made years ago, so i call it my, "Cigar-field Box Guitar"

  • If it's a regular guitar neck, then it should support the strings. You'll need to brace the box somehow, there are lots of suggested methods on this website. I do simple stick through construction. I attach the neck to some maple that runs the length of the box. The neck and maple take all the stress. There are LOTS of other ways. Sounds like it'll be a great git!
    Happy building!
  • OOps, that was supposed to be titled CGB, not DGB
