Shane Speal opened up for The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band and captured this video the blues legend live from the side of the stage. Rev performs the Charlie Patton song, Mississippi Boll Weevil with his unique Open G tuning for 3-string cigar box guitar (G-B-D).
The cigar box guitar is actually owned by Shane Speal and was built by Rev's Uncle Greg. Speal bought it at a previous Big Damn Band Gig and used it as part of his own set. Rev's own cigar box guitar failed him because of a buzzing handwound pickup, so Speal offered him use of this one.
If you want to get this same tone, get the strings and pickup from CBGitty.com:

This video is only a pale glimpse at the fury of attending a Reverend Peyton concert in person. Do yourself a favor, search out his shows at www.BigDamnBand.com and see him for yourself!
