I have built my previous CBGs with 24-25 inch scales. However, I have problems with the fretted builds, in that my old fingers have trouble forming some of the chords. I have decided to build a new CBG with a 23 inch scale, hoping that the narrower frets may help. I usually tune to open G. Will I be able to use the same gauge of strings or will I have to move to a different gauge? Any help will be most welcome.

I change string gauge according to the tone I am wanting. If it comes out too tinny sounding, I change to heavier gauge string and/or tune it lower.
Thanks Carl, great suggestion

I use the same gauge strings for 23-25 1/2" scale lengths, the difference is minimal, go for it?
