One of the best things about being a member of the nation is stealing ideas, err... i mean, being creative with your builds.I always find awesome things, from how someone handled a bridge with a unique piece of hardware, to an interesting idea for fret markers.
But cataloging all those ideas is tough. You can favorite the photos you find, but it is hard to organize them in any meaningful way. And if you come across an idea on some other site on the web, there is no way to keep track of what you find other than a bookmark.
Recently I found a pretty cool site called Pinterest.com that lets you create virtual pinboards for ideas. It is pretty much like Facebook or Twitter, but super focused on collecting images around a certain subject. I created a pinterest board for cigar box guitar ideas (http://pinterest.com/greenbrick/cigar-box-guitar-ideas/)
What is cool about it is you can create these virtual pinboard for very specific things... bridge ideas, soundhole ideas, finishing techniques, etc... As you run across images on CBN you can "pin" them to your board via a tool you install in your bookmarks toolbar.
You can "follow" other pinterest members and as they post things, you can "repin" them to your board.
Right now the site is mostly used by women who collect images of home decorations or fashion stuff. But it can really be used by anyone with a niche interest. Don't worry, I'm not a pinterest salesperson or anything, just looking to get more people on it so the CBG content grows.
Anyway, check it out when you can, and feel free to follow me: http://pinterest.com/greenbrick/
