  • thanks all.   good advice all around.

    • message Ted Crocker about it.  He doesnt keep secrets and hes experimented with em more than anybody else I know of.

  • Here's a link to a discussion about film piezos that contains links to some suppliers, you might find it interesting.

  • It's all very subjective, all you'll get is opinions. Best results I've had with piezo discs is cutting all the plastic case off, cutting the disc in half (or even three) soldering wires to each part and connecting em IN SERIES (ie just collect all the black wires together and solder into one an ditto for the red) and then sandwiching the lOt in soft wood like cedar or pine.

That being said I've not used one in couple of years, cos I think they're shit.
    • Kid's right. All subjective opinions. At least his are clearly and unequivocally expressed ;-)
    • Doh, I mean in parallel, my bad. My terminology wrong, not my description of how to do it. Don't do piezos in series
  • The case and the circuit board. >:-E

    Otherwise, they work the same.
    • so there's no real need to tear the case up and separate the components to mount them?

      • Jon,

I was being just a tad facetious with the first line of my comment.. You can rip the disc out of the case if you want. But since you used one in the case on your last build, and you like how it works, then why bother? If you' re gonna do more builds, try a disc piezo, no case, no board, and see if you can tell any difference in sound. You might, you might not. No rules!

        • I may just try that.  my next build has got my all jazzed.

          Thanks
