Pickup Graduation

After 15-20 piezo pickup builds I think I am ready to graduate to magnetic pickups, thought as a first would try the 4-pole Foundry from Gitty.Appears simple enough with a hard bridge. Where is correct positioning for it on box? Looks like most are within 1-2" of fretboard ending.

Thanks

  • Worried about position? Get two of em. One by the neck and one by the bridge. Works for about half of the guitars in the world right now. Should work for you too. : ) Give them both their own volume knob and you'll have a world of different tones out of one guitar.

  • I recommend checking out the current thread "Pickups".  Position will make a difference tho.

  • Congrats Brent! One piezo was enough for me. lol

There is no correct position for a mag pickup (as long as the strings are in it's magnetic field), it's really just a matter of what tone you prefer.  3 ¾” from the bridge is the sweet spot for balanced tone for a 25ish inch scale according to this experiment.
