I have the Gitty neck on box guitar that I would love to add a magnetic pickup to. I have this ridiculous idea of trying to somehow mount the pickup over the strings. Thoughts?

yep , ive done it a couple times , works just the same , depending on the pickup you may not even have to flip it . it will read the strings from the bottom too on most pups .
another option is to put the pickup inside, under the lid of the box . it will read right through the lid also.
No problem Kevin,works just the same,easier to get to as well,you need to consider position obviously,so it is outside your playing zone,but for a simple 'will it work?' Definitely.Just trying to remember,but pretty sure the Phrygian Kid has a couple amongst his builds on his page,good luck
