I have a nice Perdomo box which has a 1/2" gap across the back where it hinges.

Anyway to salvage and keep tight? See image

I love those boxes... Use as-is!

Dont change a thing. One of the best parts of this box is you really dont need to cut a sound hole in the top. The slot lets sound escape and the sound  is great.

Cool Box use as is no need to seal it up

I assume that is not a slot that you could cut a filler piece for. Would it be possible to glue a thin piece of wood to the inside of the box that would close the void when the box is closed?

But I also agree with the other two posts about leaving it as is.

I have closed that on one by soaking twine in wood glue and pushing it into the gap. OR just leave it.

I just lucked into one of these. Boy it's beautiful! Thanks for the question. I probably would have asked the same thing.

I'd love to see your build when you're done. Cheers!
