Hi Bill, I see your problem, a neck with no fingerboard, yuck.
Anyway, you will have to cut a trench at the headstock, it will not have to be very deep maybe 1/8"- 3/16". If the position is not marked you will have to work it out using the 12th fret and scalelength.
Also, be aware when fitting the neck that it must sit above the top of the box to give a bridge height of 1/2" to 5/8", ideally. Or set the neck at a back angle. try for a string gap of 2mm between the string and the top of the 12th fret
Magnetic pickups are grounded, Piezo pickups not so. Soldering? depends on how a reliable job you want. Enjoy Taff

Or, if you have no way of sending a picture, is it perhaps a CB Gitty fretted neck?
It’s customary to include a pic of the neck when you’re asking these kinds of questions, otherwise we’re just taking blind guesses?
