Hey guy's,

Recently my uncle who works for the city found a guitar corpse when he was working, knowing about my Cbg hobby/fetish he brought it over for parts but when i saw it i allready knew none of the parts on that guitar where going to be cbg parts! I wanted to restore it.

I don't know wich brand it is but it has a sticker on the back from the store it was once sold saying Van Heeringen musical instruments wich went out of buisniss over 40 years ago!!!

Its a small guitar (see picture next to Squier Strat) with a double cutaway, a laminated body but big 10mm sheets of light and dark wood where used to laminate it, it has a 61,5 cm scale, a freaking huge neck with a large strat-like headstock, 6 on a plate tuners and a strange Kay/Teisco like tailpiece. It was made for one pickup but had no pickguard or electronics left. Its going to have a Harmony H44 Stratotone set-up with one pu, tone and vollume + a tonecut switch for some rythem/lead options.

I hear yáll thinking:" Nice for you but what does it have to do with us..." well nothing actually, i just wanted to show off the old guitar and progress i made with it so far. Due to not knowing the brand and model i made a pickguard the way i think it must have looked once (the outline was still in the dirt of the guitar so i'm pretty sure its about right)

The pickguard material is hobbyshop plastic and costed me 6 euro's (take that Vox Humana with your 20 euro pickguard sheets!!) and the pickup i am installing came out of a Peavey guitar. The reason i made a pickupring (see last photo) was that this way i get a little more height adjustment for the pickup and be able to switch pickups without having to cut into the pickguard itself (i made 3, one for this pu, one for a normal singlecoil and one for a full size humbucker)

Costs so far..... 6 euro's for the plastic, evrything else was given to me by friends and family. Now that's not bad for getting a 40 y/o guitar back in working order

Anyway enjoy the pictures, leave a comment, if anyone know's what brand it is PLEASE TELL ME and stay tuned for more pictures.

Some more pictures of how i made the pickguard, guitar and how its comming along

Using the original screwholes to pin the paper down on the body...

Drawing the new pickguard around the screwholes

and another one of the pickupring up close
that is cool. That is a large neck too. keep updating
Looks like a nice project. A good opportunity to hone your skills. Enjoy.
Thanks Guy's, i'll post some more pictures tonight. I need to make some new pickup rings today because i made the first to small and cant screw them on to the pickguard, the screws to hold de rings on fell inside the hole of the pickguard so i made a mistake there....

Back to the drawingboard
that is a awesome looking guitar. if you are able to find the material i think that a tortis shell pickgard would look really money on it! congrads on getting your hands on an fancy piece of mysterious history!

Thanks!! Yes that was my first choice but Tortis material costs around 50 euro's domesticly so i went with the white wich costed 6 euro's. Thank you, i am quite pleased with it Some more photo's:

Not all screws are in yet (dont have enough of them) but looks good allready.. And a (short) proof of sound video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFpaRsrrVbw&feature=player_embedded Had some more bad luck though.... one tuner broke off right after i made the video and my pots don't work well with the p90-ish Peavy singlecoil and the cap i used was way to heavy (.044mf) so i have to wait for parts but all en all she's comming along quite nice.
