Greetings, all!

I am running an after-school/summer program (tinyurl/com/r3atmase), and we are attempting to make cigar box guitars. This is my question. I have ordered Rod piezos.

Why doesn't this work?

I have connected the rod piezo to a female-to-female 3.5 mm jack adapter. The 3.5 mm cord is attached to our CAO Flathead 660 Cigar box amp made with two old TV speakers and a DROKDC 12V Digital Audio amp board. The CB amp works really well. Why am I not getting sound from the piezo?

Sincerely,

  • Thanks all! These are stereo plugs. I will look for a mono version. Thank you!
    • The stereo plugs will work, but you just need to make sure the hot wire is on the correct lug, you have a ground lug and 2 hot lugs, but you only need 1 hot 1 connected

  • Hi Cameron, great what you're doing with the kids!

I'm with Brian Q and Darryl.....I was wondering if you could try a 3.5mm stereo female to 3.5mm mono male jack adaptor (like the one below) as a quick fix/check? You should be able to pick one up for around 2 to 3 US dollars.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your program!

  • Like Brian says, check your connections, the 3.5 mm plug is a stereo plug, , your mono output from the piezo might not be linking with the correct lug on the 3.5

  • Check the orientation of the jack? Make sure the signal & ground connections are correct
