hi newbie here

I have a Cano and was looking for one string tab. I see references to diatonic dulcimer. My question is if the Cano is tuned to D. Then as long as I have a song in D I am set. Like diatomic accordion music in D it should  be easy to play one a one string Cano tune to D right?

Thanks in advance for any replies

  • If I understand your question then yes.

If your canjo is fretted like a dulcimer with the diatonic scale instead of the chromatic scale of a 'normal git', and the dulcimer tab stays with the melody string and leaves the drone strings to drone, you can play the melody tab on your one string.

    • If your 1 string canjo is fretted chromatic ( like a normal git ) then you need to convert the numbers according to the scales... so if the Canjo is tuned to D and the song is in D and expects diatonic scale ( only notes on major scale, so fret 7 is 1 octave above open )

      tab note canjo
      0    D      0
      1    E      2
      2    F#    4
      3    G     5
      4    A      7
      5    B     9
      6    C#   11
      7    d      12

      and so on
