Hi,

So I made a mistake and want to see everyone's opinion on how to fix it.

I spent a long time carving the neck and rounding off the heel only to discover that I rounded back too far and now the flat neck slots I made on my box don't match the rounded bottom of my neck. It's the right width/height but I have 2 rounded open areas on the bottom/sides of the neck when I put it in the box that I want to fill with something but IDK what I should use?

I've seen some CBG's use some kind of rubber or weatherproofing/foam maybe to fill those areas in?  I have wood filler but I think the space are a little too big for that and anyway if I ever have to take it apart they'd probably crumble.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,  a lot

  • Yes, that is what I was trying to describe,  Very nice, Brian!

  • Been there, done that...

BrianQ's solution fixes the problem and adds a bit of style at the same time. It's how I fix my over-aggressive cuts.

  • Label them as  " projective neck directional sound ports"    ;-)

but seriously ,, if  it is a wood box . try using some sawdust from the scrap piece ,, and mix it with glue to make your own color matching filler.

  • Carve out the shape of the neck with a thin scrap like so, It’ll hide the gap?

  • What about a 3 sided 1/4" thick wooden frame/surround that follows the heel carve & covers up the gaps?
