Hi,
I had a question regarding sound holes with no grommets or anything added. I drilled some sound holes in a box that is paper covered and after drilling found the lid to be MDF. Do most people leave as is or do you coat the holes with anything? Also I am concerned with the paper possibly peeling at the edges over time.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike

If it were mine and wasn't going to use any grommets, I would put the white Elmer's on my fingertip and kind of work it around the circumference making sure you got some on the paper and the mdf. I had a box like what you are talking about. Had a plywood bottom, but rest was masonite covered in paper. That"s what fooled me, tapped it and it sounded solid. Plays good to. Thanks for putting the link back to the webpage that got missing.
