Hi All,
Well, after a long, long wait this Parlor sized guitar is finally finished. Too many hold ups for my liking, mainly due to hold ups getting finishing materials.
The guitar is named “Wyndham” after the Wyndham #1 gold mine from the Late 1800’s. It is also a reminder [though I don’t need reminding] of the windstorm [a play on words] that took our veranda away a week after finishing this guitar.
The build went well, although the lack of my preferred finishing materials caused untold issues. I followed as close as possible detail from a Martin 1927 Parlor guitar that I had in for repairs earlier this year.
It has New Guinee Rosewood back, sides and neck, Cedar top, crossed brace, as was the Martin. , with a bone nut, saddle and bridge pins.
The guitar is very responsive and extremely easy to play, especially with a 12 fret 25” scale and soft strings.
The silk and steel strings fitted now give a pleasant warm tone with good volume, considering the size of the body. However, it did sound brighter and “punchier” with the Elixir custom light set I used to play it in with when first strung up. I will go back to those Elixir’s later.
Merry Christmas to all in difficult and testing 2020 Stay Safe.
Cheers Taff
