  • for dulcimer fretting, use frets 0 (nut) 2 4 5 7 9 11 12

    and leave out frets 1 3 6 8 and 10.

    • Totally agree but if you select dulcimer as your instrument it leaves them out for you, one less thing to mess up.
      • Measure twice, erase pencil marks, redo math, measure twice again, cut once, curse like a sailor as it's still wrong, lol

        • It would sound sweet done totally backwards - only keep frets 1 3 6 8 and 10!  Remiclud fretting?

  • The other fret method I've seen for canjo's is dulcimer fretting, Stewmac has those as well on the fret calculator.

  • Frets?

    Try http://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/

Just tell it how long your scale length is (nut to bridge) and it will give you the measurements. It will even let you download a pdf with a pattern if you'd rather transfer the marks instead of measuring.

  • I'm guessing you mean the frets Joe, if so this should help--https://www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator.html
