It's been a while since I posted. I've got a wild hair idea of making a tapping guitar designed like a lap steel. A lap steel is about 22.5 in scale but was wondering if I go up to a 25.5 aprox guitar scale, 6 string built on a 2x6 frame or something close to that, what type of string gauge set should I use for easy tapping.
I want to build something easy on the fingertips but have a mellow sound.
I have built a mt dulcimer but want to try something else. Nothing fancy, if it works well then version 2 can be a bit more detailed.
Thanks for any advice

I don't think string gauge is an issue. This will get you on your way. http://stick.com/
